I read this concerning article in this weeks Derry Journal. Below is a few short paragraphs of the article.
A major new health survey involving almost 700 older people in Derry’s Triax area has found that almost 60% suffer from low mood and anxiety related conditions. The figure is more than twice the average for the north, when compared with the Health Survey NI for 2012-13 for those aged 55 and over.
The new Derry survey of people aged from 59 through to 90s also found that 51% are suffering from arthritis, with almost as many diagnosed as having high blood pressure, and over a quarter having heart problems.

This April, Do #SomethingBrilliant is celebrating the wonderful world of craft with a brand new competition – Make #SomethingBrilliant.
From sewing and paper craft, to knitting and recycled art, makers and hobbyists can turn their passion into prizes!
Simply submit a photograph of a handmade creation for a chance to win! We’re particularly excited to discover the makers and artists using their creativity for good, crafting for local communities, charities and people you know.
Make #SomethingBrilliant coincides with the Community Channel premiere, on 1 April, of Crafty Beggars, presented by Julie Peasgood and Wendy Turner Webster. Wendy and Julie will judge the competition entries, selecting one winner and three runners up.
The winner of Make #SomethingBrilliant will receive £200 worth of vouchers for Hobbycraft, a pair of tickets to a Hobbycrafts Show and a year’s subscription to Crafts Beautiful Magazine. Three runners up will each receive £100 Hobbycraft vouchers.
The competition opens on Wednesday 1 April 2015 and closes on Wednesday 22 April 2015, with the winner announced on 29 April 2015
